All You Need is (Self) Love (2022)
Living in a technological world, all we do is compare ourselves to others, whether with our lifestyles or bodies. This project is to show that all that anybody needs is love with a focus on self-love. Self- love is defined as “love of self”. It is a state of appreciation for oneself that can give us a more positive attitude toward life. My concept is tackling the idea of loving our bodies and looks. The subject in my pictures is the mirror because it represents sight, truth and self-awareness. When looking in the mirror, we see our true selves; there are no filters or edits, just us in our true form. The mirror is also a threshold between the conscious and unconscious minds. The red lipstick also has a role since women use it to look powerful, sexy and strong. While the black dress represents boldness. This project, in addition to the idea of self-love, highlights femininity that comes within the concept of self-love.
