Chrysalis (2022)
This project is intended to describe my metamorphosis, and the transitional
phase of past me going through chemotherapy lacking the energy and
stamina. I recreated an old picture of myself and layered it with the new me
full of energy and life. It's my breakthrough project where the present me
tears past me to become free as a butterfly. This is why I decided to call this
project 'chrysalis', also known as the pupa, because it is the stage where the
larva undergoes complete metamorphosis to emerge into a butterfly. This
project was the hardest to work on since I had to tap into my memory of a
stage that I had left behind, only to realize that it will always be a part of me
because it was how I spent my childhood.
