Yin and Yang (2022)
Yin and Yang are two complementary principles of Chinese Philosophy. I thought of Yin and Yang to portray the two sides of the world. We live in a colorful world, so what if it was black and white and everything was balanced? Yin represents negativity, darkness, stillness, calmness, and femininity, while Yang represents positivity, brightness, movement, energy and masculinity. No one can live in an entirely dark and feminine world and a fully bright and masculine world. We need the good and the bad to experience life to the fullest. Life is a scale. If one side is heavier, it messes with life's balance. Yin and Yang's interaction is thought to maintain the harmony of the universe and influence everything within it. Both sides complement each other and without their support for one another, can we live and survive? I decided to portray that through this project to show the balance of life in photographs. It will not be pleasing to the eye if it is dark, we will not see clearly and if it is all bright, it will irritate the eyes. This project is to show how balance can be soothing.
